Bridge to Trepada Alta damaged by hurricane Bridge over Los Haitises river to Cano Hondo wiped out by hurricane.  Note the the number of large trees clogging the river.  Also note the small boat being used to ferry people and goods across the river.
Overlook from bridge to El Valle from Sabana de la Mar.  The flood plane on the right side of the river was previously forested. Flowering bromeliad on mogote at Trepada Alta (some things did survive the hurricane!).
Our camp in Trepada Alta as viewed from the top of a mogote.  This cacao plantation (Guido's) sustained heavy damage; most large shade trees were toppled and the cacao trees were heavily damaged.
The tops of all the oil palms were damaged and many trees were knocked down entirely. This site (TA13) was once a well shaded old conuco/cacao.
Another shot from near TA13 Many of the small trees on the mogotes remained standing and many bromeliads remained intact.
All of the big trees in the old forest at Trepada Alta were heavily damaged.  Some were knocked down while others lost their crowns.
